COVID-19 Policies

Building and Grounds Use at St. John regarding COVID-19

The Lord has called us to share the Gospel with all nations, and yet also to be as wise as serpents. Given the potential hazards of COVID-19 and contamination, we believe it necessary to implement the following policy regarding use of the building and grounds here at St. John. Please know that our goal is not to limit the ministry, but rather to protect and promote the well-being of everyone, including worshippers, students, and the general public. We know that this will cause great disappointment and frustration, and this we sincerely regret. Please be assured that these changes are not permanent. As always, we continue to seek the Lord’s guidance as we work together through these challenging times. For more information, please contact Pastor Rigdon, DCE Paul Wendt, Principal Tim Walz, Council President John Sparks, or Elder Chair Ben Weidner.

Mask Mandate regarding St. John Lutheran Church and School

Our sincere prayer is that this message finds you well and rejoicing in the Lord! Given the challenges of COVID-19 and Governor Holcomb’s statewide mandate regarding the wearing of masks, there has been speculation pertaining to how our congregation ought to respond. Some would advocate preserving liberties to the greatest extent possible, and others who would encourage a more preventative approach. There are true and important reasons which support each point of view.

The recent Executive order from Governor Holcomb mandates the use of masks in all public areas at St. John. Beginning August 6th, 2020, we will also follow this mandate during worship, and other activities and will continue until further notice. Those entering for worship without a mask will also be required to use one, and masks will be provided.

Please know that this policy is intended to promote the safety of worshippers, the school, and the general public. Our most fervent prayer is that circumstances will soon change, such that this policy can be reversed.
